Oddities on the Science Channel

Since I don't get much opportunity to watch television,  had not yet seen this show though  I had heard of it. I had a chance to watch a mini marathon today and  am hooked! I am now having the series recorded and plan to make time to watch each week.
 
I enjoy the customers and collectors as much as the oddities. These are my kind of people!

Rachel Kaufman  for National Geographic News  Published February 8, 2012  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. And a new species of Amorphophallus—the genus that includes the "corpse flower"—still smells like rotting meat and feces.  Discovered on an island off the coast of Madagascar, the newfound plant grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) high and blooms once a year with a "really foul" stench, according to discoverer Greg Wahlert, a postdoctoral researcher in botany at the University of Utah. Lynn Bohs, a biology professor in the same lab as Wahlert, described the smell in a statement as a combination of "rotting roadkill" and a "Porta Potty."
